Visual Studio 2008 and .NET Framework 3.5 Released

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

Microsoft announced yesterday that Visual Studio 2008 has been released.

We have installed the RTM version and tested .NET Memory Profiler 3.1 against Visual Studio 2008 and .NET Framework 3.5. Everything seems to work OK so I believe that we will be able to release a beta version of .NET Memory Profiler 3.1 before the end of this week. For those that have installed .NET Framework 3.5 it is highly recommended that this beta is used, since .NET Memory Profiler 3.0 does not fully support the new framework version.

Visual Studio 2008 to be Released before the end of November

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

Microsoft’s S. Somasegar recently announced that Visual Studio will ship by the end of November.

Since support for Visual Studio 2008 is not included in .NET Memory Profiler 3.0 it has been our intention to release .NET Memory Profiler 3.1 before Visual Studio 2008 was released. Unfortunately, it seems like we probably will not be able to succeed in that ambition. However, we will prepare a beta of .NET Memory Profiler 3.1,which will be released as soon as possible after Visual Studio 2008 RTM is available for download.

Welcome to the .NET and Memory Weblog

Welcome to my blog.

My name is Andreas Suurkuusk and I am one of the founders of SciTech Software AB. I’m the primary developer of our .NET Memory Profiler, a program that started as a side-project but has now become our main product. In this blog I intend to focus on information about .NET Memory Profiler, comments about the .NET Framework and the runtime, and possibly other development related topics.

I have currently planned for the following categories related to .NET Memory Profiler:

  • .NET Memory Profiler Releases
This category will be used to publish information about all releases of .NET Memory Profiler, including minor bug fix releases. On the download page you are currently able to subscribe to update notifications, and indicate whether you want information about all releases or only major updates. We will remove the option to get notifications about minor updates. Minor updates will only be published in this blog (you can use RSS to get notifications about these).
  • .NET Memory Profiler FAQ
Here I will publish information about frequently asked questions about .NET Memory Profiler.
  • .NET Memory Profiler Features
In this category I will present information about current and upcoming features of .NET Memory Profiler.

Then there will of course be other categories for other topics, but I don’t yet know what I’ll end up writing about, so time will tell what they’ll be.
